PGN Analyse is an Android app for loading, searching, viewing, replaying and exporting chess games from PGN files. The app also includes a public tournament search with favorites, saved search locations, calendar export, ICS sharing and personal tournament notes.
1. Getting started
- Select a PGN file or load the demo PGN.
- The loaded games appear in the game list.
- Games can be searched, opened and replayed.
- PDF and CSV files can be created, saved or shared.
2. Loading PGN files
- The app can open a PGN file from your device.
- Alternatively, you can load a demo PGN.
- The app reads the games and displays them in a list.
3. Searching and opening games
- You can search the game list by player names, tournaments or other PGN information.
- Matching games can be opened and viewed.
4. Game replay
- Games can be replayed move by move.
- Replay supports standard chess and Chess960.
- Automatic replay can be started and stopped.
5. PDF and CSV export
- Loaded games can be exported as PDF.
- CSV export is also available.
- If a search is active, you can export the current search result or the complete loaded PGN file.
6. Tournament search
- The app includes a public tournament search.
- Tournaments can be searched by country, date and distance.
- The data comes from an editorially curated public tournament database.
- Tournament data may not always be complete or error-free. Updates can be submitted through the app or website.
7. Favorites, saved locations and notes
- Interesting tournaments can be saved as favorites.
- Frequently used search locations can be stored locally.
- Personal tournament notes can be stored locally on your device.
- This personal data is not sent to the server.
8. Calendar export and ICS sharing
- Tournaments can be added to your calendar.
- An ICS file can also be created and shared.
- This is useful for sharing tournaments with club members, team captains or friends.

PGN Analyse Premium adds convenience features.

10. Privacy
- Favorites, saved search locations and personal tournament notes are stored locally on your device.
- The app uses a public tournament database for tournament search.
- Personal notes are not stored in the central tournament database.
- Calendar export and ICS sharing use standard Android functionality.
- No Google Calendar API is used.
11. Frequently asked questions
Why can't I see a tournament?The tournament may not have been published by the editorial review yet, or it may already be outdated. The tournament database is maintained and expanded over time.
Can I submit a tournament?Yes. The app includes a tournament submission feature. New submissions are reviewed before publication.
Are my notes stored online?No. Personal tournament notes are stored locally on your device.
Why is calendar export a Premium feature?Calendar export, ICS sharing, unlimited favorites, saved locations and notes are convenience features for active users. The core features of the app remain available for free.
